So, you want to sell your house? There are a thousand agents out there that can sell your home but what differentiates them from the rest. Unfortunately there are some bad agents out there that are not in it for the right reasons. If you have completely given up on agents here are some tips on how to sell your own home.

To avoid finding a bad realtor here are some of the things you want to ask before hiring: i-hate-my-realtor

  • How will you market it?
  • How has your business changed in the last five years?
  • Tell me how your last two deals surprised you? 
  • What’s your specialty?
  • What do you expect of me?
  • Can I talk to one of your previous clients?

You can also ask how he/she sets themselves apart from the rest. I have provided an example of my own resume below.

First and foremost I treat people like I would like to be treated.  I am a local expert in following areas of Chicago - Westlawn, Gardfield Ridge, Belmont Cragin, Wicker Park, Logan Square, Humboldt Park and Clearing. My concentration is on bungalows, cape cods, raised ranch homes, georgian, 2-4 units and frame properties. I also work with investors and find out their cash flow numbers to meet their needs. Here are some other reasons I differentiate myself from others.

  • Response time: I am a full-timer.  In this day and age you have to respond and communicate in a timely manner especially with so much technology at hand.
  • Authority: I have been in the business 10 years+ . I am not a rookie at this. I  understand every aspect of real estate, from the macro-economics of the housing bubble to minor issues that could sway stats in a way that provides a misleading forecast.
  • Marketing/ Social Media/Technology: I  excel at measuring my marketing efforts to determine whether the benefit outweighs the cost for my client. I focus on defining then measuring  the success of a marketing campaign which is crucial to getting your home sold via social media, some of the technology tools mentioned below and more.
  • Attention to detail: You have spent your hard earned dollars on your home or investment therefore getting your home sold quickly is in the details.
  • Effectively communicate: Setting the right expectations and then ensuring those expectations are met is a huge. I want to deliver a wow experience.
